Soccer group on WhatsApp: pickup games, predictions and no fights
How to run a soccer group on WhatsApp: team fixtures, predictions, picking teams for the pickup game and rules so the banter does not turn into a fan fight.
A soccer group on WhatsApp has two faces: the banter that fills the chat on match day and the mess of organizing the weekly pickup game. With nobody in charge, one turns into a fan fight and the other turns into ten people asking what time it is.
This guide works for fan groups, pickup groups and friends who just follow soccer. In each part you see what you can do in WhatsApp itself and what Becca automates.
Banter rules before the whistle
Teasing is part of soccer, personal insults are not. Write three or four short rules (you can mock the team, you cannot insult the person, no promo links) and pin the message at the top: tap and hold and choose Pin. When things heat up after a match, WhatsApp has a native way out: in Group settings, Send messages, choose Only admins for a few minutes and let the mood cool down. Then switch the option back to everyone.
Fixtures and news without leaving the chat
Instead of everyone opening an app and pasting the result, Becca pulls the information right into the group:
- !proxjogostime <team>: shows the next games of the team you choose
- !ultimosjogostime <team>: shows the latest games
- !noticiastime <team>: brings news about the team
- !noticiasfut: brings soccer news in general
Replace <team> with the team name. Use these commands as a shortcut for the conversation, not as an official source: if the kickoff time of a final really matters, check the club or competition channel.
Predictions before the game
Predictions are the best fuel for banter, because they give people a reason to come back to the group after the whistle. WhatsApp has a native poll (in the attachment clip, choose Poll). With Becca, an admin creates the poll right in the chat: !enquete Who wins today? | Team A | Draw | Team B. For a big game, !enquetem does the same while mentioning everyone.
After the match, go back to the poll and comment on who got it right. If you want to keep a prediction scoreboard, an admin can save it with !anotar and check it with !nota. In a long season, the race for best predictor creates more conversation than the games themselves.
Organize the pickup game
A pickup game lives on confirmations. The native way: create a poll with In and Out and pin the time and place. With Becca, you can automate the reminder: turn on !msgautomatica and create a message with !addmsgauto, for example !addmsgauto Pickup game today at 7 PM, confirm in the poll | 17:00. It goes out every day at that time, which works well for a daily game. If yours is once a week, a daily notice becomes noise: in that case, an admin sends the reminder with !hidetag on game day.
To pick the teams, !sorteio settles it in front of everyone: !sorteio Blue team | 10m | 5. Whoever reacts to the message takes part, the five drawn players form the blue team and the rest take the other side. To decide who brings the ball, !sorteiogrupo draws among the group members, so it works best in a group only for the pickup game: !sorteiogrupo Who brings the ball.
Derby day: keeping spirits in check
On derby day, the chat speeds up. The !antiflood command acts when someone sends 5 messages in about 2 seconds and ignores admins. Turn it on and choose the punishment level in the menu it opens. For the rest, agree with the other admins on a ladder of responses:
- !advertir @member: adds a warning, and on the third one the removal is automatic
- !mutar @member: Becca deletes every message from the person until they are released with !unmute
Start with the warning and keep the mute for someone clearly out of control. The rule applies to every team, including yours.
Stickers for the banter
Every soccer group has that moment that becomes an inside joke. The !figurinha command turns a photo or a video of up to 10 seconds into a sticker, so the missed goal, the face of the coach or the Sunday highlight enters the group vocabulary. Joke about the play, not about the person: it is the same banter rule.
Tip: The same structure works all year: prediction poll before, banter during and sticker after. Each game becomes a small cycle the group learns to repeat on its own.
Next step
Pin the banter rules today and create the first prediction poll for the next game. If you want the pickup game reminder and the moderation on autopilot, with the team fixtures one command away, add Becca: R$ 15 per group per month, no lock-in, paid by Pix or card.
