AI on WhatsApp: how to use artificial intelligence in your group
Quick questions, summaries and text ideas without leaving the chat: see how to use AI on WhatsApp with Becca, what she does well and the care you need to take.
AI on WhatsApp is no longer a curiosity: when someone in the group asks something nobody knows, the fastest answer often comes from artificial intelligence, not from five people guessing. It is like having an AI in the style of ChatGPT inside the conversation itself.
In this guide you will see what an AI is good for in a group, how to use !gpt and keep a conversation with context, Becca's personality and her text, voice and image tools that pair well with AI, plus the care you need to avoid headaches.
What AI solves in the group
Artificial intelligence in the chat does not replace people, but it removes friction from many everyday situations:
- Quick questions: how long to cook a food, what an acronym means, how a rule works
- Summaries: a long text or a huge message becomes a short paragraph
- Ready-made text: a notice for the group, a caption, a birthday message, an invitation
- Ideas: a team name, a party theme, a gift suggestion
The secret is a clear question: the more context you give (who it is for, what tone, what length), the better the answer. "Write a short, friendly notice about Saturday's meeting" gets you more than "make a notice".
The manual way: a separate app or site
The common path today is to open an AI app or site, write the question, wait, copy the answer and paste it in the group. Depending on your version and region, WhatsApp may also offer an assistant of its own, which is worth trying. In every case it is back and forth between screens, and the group does not see the question or follow the conversation.
When the question was born in the group, the answer should show up in the group too.
!gpt: ask right in the group
With Becca in the group, write !gpt and your question. She answers right there for everyone to see. You can also select another person's message and send only !gpt, so the AI works on top of that text.
The detail that changes everything: reply to her message and the conversation continues with context. You do not need to repeat the subject. The conversation belongs to whoever asked and follows Becca's latest answer: anyone who wants their own starts with another !gpt. If the answer came out long, just reply to it asking "now in two lines", and the AI understands what you are talking about.
Becca's personality
!gpt is the direct mode. !becca followed by a text talks with Becca's personality: sarcastic, short-spoken and rude on purpose, made for joking around. Admins can also turn on modes in which she joins the conversation on her own:
- !simih: Becca answers every message, in a rude tone
- !simih2: answers and learns from the way the group talks, in a funny tone
- !simih3: only answers when she is called
- !audio: makes Becca answer with audio (works with one of the simih modes or with !autoresp turned on)
The tone of !becca, !simih and !simih3 is rude on purpose and can include swearing, so think twice before using them in work groups, family groups or groups with minors. Modes that answer everything can also take over the chat: agree with the group before turning on !simih. !simih3 is the calmest option in volume for big groups, but the tone is the same.
Other text, voice and image tools
Beyond conversation, Becca has text, voice and image tools for the group's everyday life:
- !transcrever: reply to an audio or video and it becomes text
- !traduzir: translates a text (or the message you reply to) into the group's language
- !lerfoto: reads the text in an image (works best with sharp, printed text and can get accents wrong)
- !falar: turns a text into audio, always in a Portuguese voice (up to 500 characters)
Combining them comes naturally: read the text from a photo of a menu with !lerfoto and ask for a suggestion with !gpt, for example.
Care: AI makes mistakes
- AI can confidently answer something wrong: check anything important before passing it along
- Do not use it for medical, legal or financial decisions: in those cases, talk to a professional
- Do not paste personal data: ID numbers, passwords, addresses, card numbers or other people's data stay out of the question
- Remember that the whole group reads what you write: do not ask anything you would not want to show everyone
Tip: Treat an AI answer as a first draft, not a verdict. Ask for the steps or the source of the information and check anything important before passing it along.
