Anyone searching for WhatsApp group rules is usually in the same spot: the group got into a fight, went quiet, or was taken over by promo links, and there is no ready-made text to restore order. You can fix that in a few minutes, as long as the rules are few and well written.

Below you will find a general template, variations for five kinds of groups, the best places to post the rules and what to do so they hold without debate. Copy, adapt and use.

What makes a rule work

A rule nobody remembers does not work. The ones that do share three traits:

  • Short: one line per rule, three to five in total. Nobody reads a list of ten.
  • Specific: be respectful is vague; no insults or personal attacks makes it clear what counts as a violation.
  • With a consequence: say what happens when the rule is broken. People who know the third warning means removal think twice.

Avoid rules you cannot enforce. A rule ignored once becomes a rule ignored forever.

General template to copy

It fits almost any group. Swap what does not apply and send it:

  • 1. Respect always: no insults, personal attacks or heated arguments.
  • 2. No promotion: links, ads and invites to other groups only with an admin approval.
  • 3. No spam: do not repeat messages or send several voice notes or stickers in a row.
  • 4. Stay on topic: anything unrelated, we handle in private.
  • 5. Break a rule, get a warning. On the third one, you are out of the group.

Variations for each type of group

Add these lines to the general template, depending on the group:

  • Sales: ads with price and photo, at most once a day per product, and negotiation in private, not in the group.
  • Friends: jokes are fine, insults are not. Nobody shares another person's photo or chat without permission, and a joke someone asked to stop is a joke that stops.
  • Study: ask questions with context (subject and what you already tried), no asking for or sharing ready-made exam answers, and long voice notes only with a written summary.
  • Neighborhood or building: only topics that matter to residents, issues with a specific neighbor go to the manager in private, and emergencies go straight to the front desk.
  • Church: respect among members, no political or commercial promotion, prayer requests only with the permission of the person who asked, and event notices agreed with the leadership.

Adjust the tone too: a friends group accepts a light text with emojis and jokes; a building or church group calls for more formal language. The content is the same, only the voice changes.

Where to post the rules

A hidden rule helps nobody. Use these three places:

  • Group description: it shows up for anyone who opens the group info. You can edit it in the group settings, or send !descgp with the new text.
  • Pinned message: press and hold the message and choose Pin so it stays at the top. Whoever joins later finds the rules there.
  • Group note: !anotar Rules | rules text saves everything, and admins can look it up with !nota (or !notas for the list) without scrolling through the history.

With Becca, !legendabv accepts the #descricao# tag, so the group description goes along in the welcome message and every newcomer receives the rules.

How to enforce them

A rule without a consequence is a suggestion. You have manual punishment and protections that act on their own (for both, Becca needs to be a group admin):

  • !advertir @member adds a warning and, on the third, removal is automatic. !advertidos lists who has warnings and !desadvertir forgives one.
  • !antilink deletes promo links right away.
  • !antiflood acts when someone sends 5 messages in about 2 seconds.
  • !antipalavrao deletes swear words so you do not have to read the whole group.
  • !ban @member removes right away anyone who does something serious, without waiting for three warnings.

When you turn on a protection, Becca shows a menu: Disable, Only Delete, Delete & Remove, Delete & Warn and Delete & Mute. The message protections ignore admins and anyone on !autorizar. To start, Only Delete or Delete & Warn are enough: the group gets the message and nobody is kicked by mistake.

In practice
⚠️ @member, you were warned for the 1st time. On the 3rd, you will be removed from the group.

Tip: Announce it before turning the protections on: send the rules, give a start date and only then enable them. Surprise punishment breeds resentment; announced punishment earns respect.

Next step

Pick a template, adjust it to your group, pin the message and paste it in the description today. If you want the rules to enforce themselves, Becca handles the warnings and protections for R$ 15 per group per month, no lock-in, paid by Pix or card. Writing the rule defines what counts; applying it the same way every time is what changes the group, and that is where a bot helps.
